Justin Bieber: ‘My Mum Told Me About Santa’

Star says his mother left him with no illusions about Christmas…

If you’ve ever pitied teen pop sensation Justin Bieber for missing out on his childhood then you might want to stop reading now, otherwise you could get a bit weepy.

The 17-year-old has confessed in an interview that his mother Pattie didn’t let him believe in Santa Claus as a child because she was so keen for him to grow up believing in God.

He told AOL Music: “Christmas was always a time for being with family and friends – and being off school and in the snow. In Canada, there’s lots of snow so it was always good fun. My cousins, aunts, uncles and friends would come down.

“My mum always told me there wasn’t a Santa. This was her logic: she thought if I grew up knowing about Santa then finding out he wasn’t real, that it would be like she was lying to me.

“And then when she told me about God, I maybe wouldn’t believe her. So she just wanted to be straight-up and honest with me all the time. But I didn’t tell my friends or ruin it for anyone – I was a good kid!”

And Biebs has definitely been getting into the Christmas spirit at work, recording festive single Mistletoe along with a Christmas album including a duet with Mariah Carey and a version of Santa Claus Is Coming To Town (which we now know is a big fat LIE).

Asked about his own plans for Christmas, he said he’d be: “Just relaxing and being with my family. That’s the thing I’m most excited about. To be honest, I really don’t have any Christmas wishes this year… I just wish to be happy and that everyone be healthy in my family.

“And I wish that everybody gets to hear my Christmas album – and hopefully like it.”

Couldn’t resist a little plug there, eh Biebs?

JB To Debut W/ Drew&Stevie Wonder on ‘X Factor’

Justin Bieber to Duet With Drew and Stevie Wonder on 'X Factor' Finale

When Justin Bieber performs on the finale of “The X Factor (US)” next week, he will not take the stage alone. Rumor has it, the 17-year-old singer will bring with him one of the former top 10 contestants, Drew Ryniewicz, who is a big fan of him. Their performance reportedly will be accompanied by music veteran Stevie Wonder.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the threesome have taped their performance on December 14 for a later broadcast. They allegedly are going to cater the crowd with a rendition of two yuletide classics “The Christmas Song” and “Santa Claus Is Coming to Town” which are listed in Bieber’s Platinum-certified album “Under the Mistletoe“.

Drew was never shy proclaiming her love for Bieber since day 1 she appeared on the U.S. version of “The X Factor“. She caught the attentions of Simon CowellNicole ScherzingerPaula Abdul and L.A. Reid right from the beginning when she entered the audition room by playing her own spin on “Baby”.

The 14-year-old aspiring singer from Chino Valley, Arizona was mentored by Cowell during the bootcamp. She, along with Astro, was eliminated on the sixth week of the talent show after failing to impress three judges in a final showdown against Marcus Canty. She chose to sing Roxette‘s “Listen to Your Heart” back then.

Shortly after her elimination, Bieber reached out to console her on Twitter. “Keep your head up. I lost my first competition too. this is just the beginning for u. never say never,” he tweeted. The message apparently helped lift up her spirit as she posted, “Ended up to be a good day. Had a great experience on this show.”
