JB Surprises Fans With Toronto Food Bank Visit

Canada’s pop sensation dropped by to make a donation of food before performing Wednesday night at Massey Hall for a Christmas TV special on MuchMusic and CTV.

TORONTO – A busload of school kids volunteering Wednesday at Toronto’s Daily Bread Food Bank got the surprise of their lives when pop sensation Justin Bieber dropped in for a visit.

Canada’s Bieber was on hand to donate some food for Torontonians in need ahead of charity fund-raising concert at Massey Hall Wednesday night.

The Daily Bread Food Bank is mid-way through a winter and holiday drive to reach a goal by January 3 of 1.2-million pounds of food and $1.2 million dollars raised.

Bieber, who recently revealed his mother used a food bank when he was younger, has made it a habit to give local food banks a boost while on tour.

The pop phenom also skated Wednesday with members of the Toronto Maple Leafs hockey team at the Air Canada Center, and took shots at team goalie Jonas Gustavsson.

The cameras will be rolling on his Massey Hall performance for a half hour holiday special, Justin Bieber: Home For The Holidays, to debut on the MuchMusic cable channel and the main CTV network on Dec. 22.

Bieber, who hails from just up the road in Stratford, Ontario, will be singing hit songs like “Mistletoe” and “Baby”, and Christmas cover songs and classics.

JB invests in Facebook WeTopia for “social good”

Justin Bieber wants his fans to give joy to hearts all over the world tonight by playing WeTopia, a Facebook game that earns money for charities — so much so that the teen singer has invested in Sojo Studios, the company behind the game.

“Playing online games is a lot of fun already, but WeTopia makes it better by helping children around the world,” Bieber said in a company release. “I’ve been so lucky and blessed and that’s why I believe so much in giving back, and I know my fans will feel the same way when they play WeTopia.”

Users in the virtual world of WeTopia play to earn “Joy,” a currency which can be spent on charitable projects in the real-world. Users can choose from charities at “Joy Central” to build schools, provide medicine or hot meals, according to its website.

WeTopia is the first game released by the New York-based Sojo Studios, which says it is looking to add other games with its partners Save the Children, buildOn and the Children’s Health Fund.

Justin Bieber Up For PETA Award

PETA’s youth division, peta2, is giving props to celebs like Justin Bieber,Ke$ha and “Glee” star Lea Michele at this year’s Libby Awards for their efforts in support of animal rights.

The Biebs, who appeared in a campaign for the organization at the top of the year using Bieber-fied catch-phrases like “My world includes passion for animals, yours should too” and “Animals can make u smile. Adopt from your local shelter,” is taking on fellow animal-loving pop star Ke$ha and rappers k-os and Waka Flocka Flame in the Most Animal-Friendly Pop/Hip-Hop Artist category. Ke$ha appeared in an ad campaigning against the slaughter of Canadian seals.

Michele, who speaks out against the mistreatment of carriage horses in New York City, faces off against “Jackass” star Steve-O, Cobra Starship’s leading man and peta2′s Sexiest Vegetarian Gabe Saporta, and “Victorious” star Daniella Monet in the Top Animal-Friendly Celebrity category.

The Ready Set, Tokio Hotel, Hellogoodbye and the Swellers are all up for Most Animal-Friendly Band. Ke$ha and Tokio are also up for Best peta2 ad along with Social Distortion frontman Mike Ness and Yelle.

The Libby (as in “Liberation”) Awards will be decided on January 17 by fan votes as well as peta2. Voting ends December 23.

Justin Bieber skates with Maple Leafs

TORONTO — Back home in Canada, Justin Bieber found some time for the national pastime.

The 17-year-old pop star took the ice with the Toronto Maple Leafs at Air Canada Centre on Thursday. He skated with players Dion PhaneufJake GardinerJonas Gustavsson and Tyler Bozak before taping his Christmas special at Massey Hall.

A day after another Canadian singer, Michael Buble, wore full equipment in skating with theVancouver Canucks, Bieber sported a knit hat and Leafs warmups and took shots on Gustavsson.

Bieber has spent time around a number of sports teams during his travels. He joined a training session with Spanish soccer club Barcelona in April.

JB to Appear on Asher Roth’s Next Album

Justin Bieber‘s alter ego Shawty Mane is back! Shawty made an appearance on Hot 97.5 this week, gracing listeners with yet another rap.

The Biebs’ rhymes are getting noticed by the hip-hop community. Following his performance, Hot 97.5 DJ disclosed that he heard Justin will be making an appearance on Asher Roth‘s upcoming album.
